i like your FO banner. :D
aaaaaaand san fran is nice. it's a cross between los angeles and europe and seattle.
LA is good if you like the big city, trends, fashion, the entertainment industry, lovely weather all year round and running into chad michael murray at your favorite coffee place from time to time. i enjoy LA. there are parts of it that i don't like (like the pressure to be thin and beautiful 24/7) but in the end, i really love it. today i went to the beach and i was eating an ice cream cone as the sun was setting listening to the waves crash on the shore... and i was really happy with where i am.
in the end, it depends on you.

ack! that actually makes it really really hard! hehe.
because eating an ice-cream cone while watching the sun set as the waves crash on shore sounds just fabulous.
aaaaaaand i love seattle/portland & europe.
*sigh* i guess i'll just have to go on a research trip to both places and see.
i'm not sure if you'll see this, but can you recommend any really great neighborhoods of LA that would be nice to live in? eg safe and with down-to-earth people /artistic people?
thanks so much for writing back- i friended you btw. ;)

...wait, you could read my entries without me friending you back?
...i had no idea you could do that.
you won't get your safe and down-to-earth place in LA. it's too much of a big metropolitan city. san fran is bad in parts too, but there are a ton of hippies there.
if you move to LA, stay away from the valley where i live. it's dreadfully boring. keep to the west side! this will also save you in traffic.

Hi.
I went to look at your user info after your post in the LA community about neighbourhoods and now I need to comment.
You were talking about trying to get your mind around the concept of trying to live one's whole life in just two days while surrendering 40 hours of the rest of the week to ... you know...
And, that's something I've been talking about a lot lately.
This is actually what is becoming a classic point of view for the millenial generation. The concept that work is somewhere you go except for those hours one's real life is happening... i.e. the rest of the time.
In older generations, ideally work was something that defined one's perception of self. The very first question people used to ask one another was 'What do you do?'
Now me, I LOVE what I do, and I'm grateful to be able to do it. I think the jobs I love the most are the ones that call on many of my own diverse talents - I am lovely and weird too. In fact I'm so out of the box, no one knows quite what to make of it.
But, I would love to continue this and hear your responses to what I said, start a dialog if you feel engaged... because this has been a real topic around my life lately.
Anyhow best of luck with your move. Cheers.

Hey, I saw your question in the LA community and since I'm not technically a resident yet, I figured I'd respond here rather than in the community. I'm moving from Atlanta to LA in August and I'm beyond thrilled (as it sounds like you are as well). As for what's bringing me to LA, I love the sunshine, warm weather, and am dying to get away from Atlanta.
My favorite neighborhoods so far have been Hollywood and North Hollywood but I'm definitely exploring others as well. The best advice I've been given is get something temporary until you figure out where you want to be. I actually just got back from an apartment hunting trip to LA and I still don't know where exactly I want to live so I'll probably end up doing a temp thing until I get settled.
Would you mind if I added you? We seem to have a few things in common and it's definitely nice to meet other people in the same boat as me (becoming a CA transplant).
